Your brand is more than a logo...
It's a whole vibe.
Being a brand designer for small businesses is about more than making some sweet-looking logos. Your brand embodies and is imbued into every aspect of your business, from visuals to language to the consumer experience.
Emma Thurgood is a brand designer for small businesses, NPOs and start-ups.
And it needs to be on point.
You could have the best product or service in the world, but if your branding doesn't resonate with the people who want it, you're going nowhere. Branding provides the level of trust and peace of mind to consumers that your business is the right choice for them - and that anyone else would be second-best.
Branding can be hard, and it's always better to have someone outside your organization move you through the process. I've led multiple rebrands and new brands through it, so whether its a full rebrand of your existing business, creating a new brand from scratch, or just better defining your business' visual identity, you can rest assured that I've got your back.
Full branding projects, whether for new or established entities, include a thorough exploration of the business' product or service, mission and vision, core values, and target audience demographics and behaviors. This helps us to inform the look, tone, and feel of the brand to develop a strong visual identity. Each project receives a full brand guide deck that encapsulates all of the information in an easy to use way.
Anything less than a full branding project. Could be a logo refresh, font refresh, icon development, a color story, an audience analysis, or some combination that doesn't totally add up to a complete branding project. Most partial rebrands are a visual identity: logo design, color story, and font selections.
It depends on budget. The whole point of branding is to create your business' unique identity in the market. That said, not everyone can afford for me to spend the time and effort needed on creating totally custom visual elements for every aspect of their brand. If that's the case, I'll source stock photography, premade illustrations, or whatever and tweak them as needed to fit your brand's needs.
You do! Once a branding project is complete, you own those assets. They'll be delivered to you via a Google Drive link that I maintain for up to a year after project completion.
Most full branding projects can last anywhere from two to six months. This is greatly impacted by your ability to collaborate on some of the key research items needed early on in the process. Partial rebrands can take anywhere from two weeks to three months depending on the scope of the project.
Because honestly, they're more intense. With a new brand, you're starting with something totally fresh and there's no baggage to manage. With a rebrand, there's a lot more data and history to analyze and consider so that we can make the best choices.
